Community Renewable Energy Services, Inc., a sister corporation of Community Recycling and Crown Disposal, assumed the operations and management of Madera Power, LLC on May 17, 2004.  This 28 MW biomass-fueled power plant was originally constructed in 1987 and is located near Firebaugh, California in Madera County.  The facility originally burned  agricultural residue with some urban wood residues.

The facility operated from 1987 until 1995 when PG&E purchased the electricity sales contract from the original owners.  In early 2000, the power plant was refurbished and restarted by Energy Products of Idaho, which operated the facility until CRES took over in 2004.  Community Recycling has been a major fuel supplier to the plant since its restart.

The facility currently has a contract with Pacific Gas & Electric for sale of the green renewable electricity produced.  The facility has a special combustor and baghouse arrangement, which has allowed this facility to be permitted by the San Joaquin Valley APCD to use soiled, non-recyclable waste paper as a portion of its fuel requirements. Operating at full output, the facility consumes approximately 750 tons per day of wood fuel mixed with non-recyclable waste paper.
